WWE SmackDown ratings down from last year's Superstar Shakeup

While the audience total for Tuesday’s SmackDown was above average for night two of the Superstar Shakeup, it was a decline of five percent from last week and 10 percent from the 2017 version of the show.

This year’s Shakeup episode had an average audience of 2.796 million viewers.

There was tough competition on the night as SmackDown aired directly opposite an NBA playoff game on TBS that did 2.88 million viewers. There was also the usual strong Tuesday network competition from CBS and ABC, highlighted by the over 13 million people who tuned in for “Roseanne,” which has proven to be a ratings juggernaut.

SmackDown was fifth for the night in total viewers on cable and third in the 18-49 demo with a 0.98 rating, behind two separate NBA games. SmackDown is usually on top in that demo.

Although Raw ratings have been up for the most part so far in 2018, SmackDown’s have been down an average of two percent.

Here’s a look at SmackDown’s numbers so far this year as compared to 2017. It should be noted that both the post-WrestleMania and Superstar Shakeup episodes were one week later this year, making the year-to-year comparisons a little skewed, but the overall averages are a fair comparison given that both special shows have now aired.
