Why hasn’t Harvey Weinstein been charged over sexual assault allegations?

Movie producer Harvey Weinstein has faced multiple allegations of sexual assault and rape from a series of Hollywood actresses. 

Claims against him sparked an outpouring of allegations of abuses of power which rocked industries around the world and led to the resignations of a number of men in high profile positions. 

The widespread allegations also brought about the "MeToo" campaign, a women-led movement encouraging victims to speak out against harassment and assault.

A separate initiative, "Times Up" has been set up to offer funding for victims to take legal action. 

However, the widespread allegations have so far produced very few convictions – or even charges.
