Varane has ‘no problem’ waiting a year for Man Utd transfer

Raphael Varane would be prepared to remain at Real Madrid until next summer and join Man Utd on a free transfer in 2022, according to a report in Spain.
The France international has been consistently linked with the Premier League club, while there has also been speculation that Paris Saint-Germain could also be interested in a deal for Varane.
There have been conflicting reports about how far down the line the Red Devils are over a potential deal for Varane with Sky Sports claiming today that Real Madrid have given Man Utd permission to speak to Varane.

There has even been talk that Man Utd could include Paul Pogba or Donny van de Beek in a deal for Varane with the La Liga giants demanding around €50m for the centre-back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a centre-back partner for Harry Maguire his number one target this summer after agreeing a fee to bring Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford.
Despite other reports in recent weeks suggesting that Varane wanted to tie up a move as quickly as possible, Spanish newspaper Marca (via Sport Witness) now claim Varane has ‘no problem’ waiting at Real Madrid for another year before joining Man Utd on a free transfer next summer.
It is confirmed by Marca that Varane ‘has an offer from the English club’ and that Varane still sees his future away from Real Madrid.
The Spanish source quotes €60m as Real Madrid’s price and with Man Utd not willing to meet that fee, they have to decide whether to lower their demands or risk losing Varane on a free.
There is understood to be a deal on the table for Varane to sign at the Bernabur but he will only consider signing on improved terms.
Former Man Utd defender Rio Ferdinand recently backed a move for Varane with the Frenchman bringing a “winning mentality” with him.
Ferdinand said: “He brings an absolute winning mentality. I think he’s played in 14 finals and won 14. So there’s an absolute winning mentality, he knows how to win, he’s got great experience and he’s an unbelievable specimen by the way.
“I’ve been saying alongside Maguire he needs someone with some pace the way Man United play.
“When I’ve seen Man United in problems and in trouble in games, a lot of the time teams have been given a bit of confidence or seen a chink in the armour of Man United when they see they can get people one v one or play the ball over the defence, into one of the channels and then it’s a race.
“We haven’t had the players quick enough to do that in the centre-back areas. If you get someone like him, people start thinking ‘well we ain’t gonna play the ball over the top cos Varane is gonna eat that up.’ Someone like him, he’ll bring that authority I hope to the back line.”
