Tuchel signs two-year Chelsea contract extension after CL win

Chelsea have rewarded Thomas Tuchel with a two-year contract extension after he guided them to Champions League glory.
The German manager took over in January and soon engineered great success at Stamford Bridge.
He improved some of the club’s star players, including Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic, and helped them to finish in the top four.
Every Premier League club’s most valuable asset
Tuchel has now signed a new deal with the Blues which will see him remain in London until 2024.
Reacting to the contract extension, Tuchel told the club’s official website: “I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal. I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family.”
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: “When Thomas joined us in January there was still so much to play for domestically and in Europe. He slotted in seamlessly and immediately became an integral part of the Chelsea family.

“Returning us to the top four in the Premier League was crucial, and we could not be happier with our success in the Champions League which crowned a remarkable season at Chelsea.
“We are obviously extremely pleased therefore to retain Thomas for a further two years, and look forward to more achievements in the coming seasons.”
Tuchel got the better of Pep Guardiola and Man City on three occasions in the final few months, including in the final of Europe’s elite competition.
Tuchel was rewarded for his trust in Havertz as the forward scored the winning goal in Porto.
Chelsea also reached the FA Cup final but were beaten by Leicester on an historic day for the Foxes.
Having finalised a new deal, Tuchel and Chelsea can look towards a busy summer transfer window.
They’re eyeing a number of top players, most notably former striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium international scored 24 goals in 36 games as Inter took the Serie A crown from Juventus recently.
Lukaku’s status as a Chelsea legend is yet to be formed, so there’s no reason why they shouldn’t move for the goalscorer.
Pacy Wolves winger Adama Traore is another option for Tuchel to improve his squad. The Blues look set to rival Liverpool for his signature.
