Joachim Andersen has explained why he rejected “good clubs” like Arsenal to join Lyon.
Andersen was a target for a number of Europe’s leading sides, including north London pair Arsenal and Tottenham.
But the centre-half opted to leave Sampdoria for Lyon in a £22m deal instead, becoming the most expensive Danish footballer in history.

The 23-year-old was also the French side’s club-record signing after turning down overtures from elsewhere.
“There were good clubs [interested], but Lyon was the best choice for me,” Andersen told Foot Mercato.
“I wanted to develop as a player, play the Champions League, be in a top team that fights for the title and Lyon was the best solution.”
