Ole uses three Man Utd legends to make point about fatigue

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reckons results will give his players energy as he reflects on a gruelling festive schedule.

United are currently fifth in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea after an inconsistent first half of the season.

The schedule in December and early January is testing for most teams with a hectic set of fixtures and Solskjaer has explained how results, good or bad, will help cure their fatigue.

Ahead of their FA Cup third round replay against Wolves on Wednesday, Man Utd boss Solskjaer told reporters: “Results give you energy. For me I’m fine, I only have to see you before and after the game.

“It’s our 14th game in 45 days. We’ve still got five or six games before the winter break, it’s relentless, 18 games in less than 60 days which is physically and mentally demanding, we have to energise them.

“We have a good result and performance like Norwich and bad results have to be used as a motivation, as in we’re not there yet, we need to keep improving.

“Just need the rhythm. When I was playing I felt us as a team got rhythm of match rest match rest, I never got that physical thing. Players like Roy [Keane], Scholesy [Paul Scholes] and Gary [Neville] improved.”
