News on Cris Cyborg Coming to WWE, PJ Black Had Interest From NXT
Posted On July 10, 2020
There have been numerous examples of former MMA fighters coming in to the world of pro wrestling and reinventing their careers. Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar are perhaps the two best examples of this as they are both reigning champions on WWE programming, and fellow former UFC competitor Matt Riddle is competing in NXT and is cited by fans as being a potential mega star for WWE someday. Meanwhile, another MMA fighter who has expressed interest in working a program with WWE has been Cris Cyborg. Fans may remember that MMA reporter Ariel Helwani even shared photos of Cyborg visiting the WWE Performance Center for a guest training session a couple of weeks ago. Could she be making the jump to wrestling soon?
Although the idea of seeing Cyborg move away from the octagon and step into the squared circle may sound appealing to some, it sounds like fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. According to Terez Owens, there is a possibility that Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey warned WWE officials not to sign Cyborg to any sort of deal. Rousey and Cyborg have a history dating back to the former’s days as a UFC fighter. Even though Cyborg in WWE may not be in the cards, that same report goes on to note that there is definitely interest from All Elite Wrestling in using her services if she’s interested in wrestling. These are merely rumors for the time being, but she sure to stay tuned for any additional updates on Cyborg.
PJ Black is one of the newest full time members of the Ring of Honor roster. ROH officially confirmed that he signed and exclusive deal with the promotion a couple of weeks ago, it apparently, Black had plenty of options before he decided to go with ROH. During an interview with Chris Van Vilet, Black informed viewers that NXT was interested in bringing him in. He also received offers from Impact Wrestling and other promotions but decided to go with ROH due to how accommodating their offer was. As for his relationship with Luche Underground goes, Black spoke much more positively than other members of the show, but it does look like his time with the El Rey Network series may also be coming to an end soon.
