Matches Set for NXT UK Takeover, Bliss Update, Roman Resurfaces

Earlier today, Triple H announced that the NXT UK brand will be hosting its very first Takeover show in 2019. Much like the traditional NXT Takeover shows, this event will feature the very best members of the brand competing on a larger stage than a typical NXT UK show. The first Takeover show for NXT UK will take place in Blackpool, England. During today’s NXT UK tapings in Liverpool, several matches were confirmed for the show.
– Pete Dunne will defend the UK Championship against Joe Coffey.
– Tyler Bate & Trent Seven will challenge an unnamed team for the vacant NXT UK Tag Team Championships.
– Toni Storm will take on Rhea Ripley for the NXT UK Women’s Championship during the event as well.
NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool will air on the WWE Network on January 12th.
Rumors concerning Alexa Bliss’ in-ring future have been running rampant over the past few weeks. Bliss has not competed on several shows due to alleged head injuries, but she has continued to appear on Raw in a non-wrestling role. Bliss is reportedly being considered for the role of Raw General Manager now, and some have even doubted that she will ever be cleared to return to the ring. However, the former Raw Women’s Champion herself took to Instagram earlier in the week to bluntly state that she is not finished wrestling yet. WWE will likely be keeping Bliss out of the ring until she is deemed ready to come back by WWE’s team of doctors. However, fans of “Little Miss Bliss” may no longer have to worry about Alexa hanging up the boots just yet.
Roman Reigns had been positioned as the top star in WWE for a number of years. It was definitely heartbreaking for both wrestling fans and those in the business when Reigns announced that his leukemia had returned earlier this year. Ever since he made the shocking announcement and dropped the Universal Championship, Reigns has maintained a low profile, until today. Reigns attended a Georgia Tech Football game earlier today, and he was even featured in a video posted on the official Twitter account for the team. This is Roman Reigns’ first public appearance since he left the ring last month, but he was pleased to return to the institute that he once attended for today’s huge game.
