Man Utd have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of defensive target Facundo Medina, according to reports.
The Red Devils were first linked with the promising 21-year-old last month.
He currently plays for Ligue 1 side Lens and has made 18 appearances this season.

According to Italian source Calciomercato (via Daily Mail), AC Milan will rival Man Utd for the player’s signature.
Man Utd are hoping to sign Medina as a long term centre back partner for Harry Maguire.
Milan, meanwhile, see the Argentinian international as a replacement for Alessio Romagnoli.
They could swoop in with a bid this summer, meaning United might need to act fast to get their man.
Medina has been in great form this campaign, which has seen him attract interest from plenty of potential suitors.
He is now an important part of the Lens first team. The player made his Argentina debut in October, playing in the 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over Bolivia.
United are willing to pay around £11 million for Medina after trimming their squad during the January transfer window.
Defenders Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Marcos Rojo left Old Trafford, leaving space for Medina to join.
If a deal were to be completed this summer, then Medina would likely return to Lens on loan for the 2021/22 campaign.
That would allow the player to continue his exciting development and prepare him for a Premier League debut.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently has Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly at his disposal.
However, the pair have failed to prove themselves as consistent performers in a title race.
The Red Devils now look set to put their trust in a younger alternative, should Lens accept a bid in the future.
Lens paid a reported £3.1 million to sign Medina in July 2020. They might now cash-in by selling one of their star players.
