Man Utd due Dortmund answer ‘soon’ as they expect Sancho ‘push’

Man Utd are expecting an answer from Borussia Dortmund over how much they want for Jadon Sancho, according to reports.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Sancho for well over a year now with reports claiming they were trying to get a deal over the line last summer.
However, Dortmund’s valuation of the winger was far in excess of what Man Utd were willing to pay at the time with the Bundesliga side asking for at least £100m in the summer.
TRANSFER GOSSIP: Man City want Haaland, Lukaku, Kane; United want Cavani
After scoring 17 goals and providing 16 assists in the Bundesliga last season, Sancho’s form took a dip early on this campaign with some critics claiming he could be distracted by the speculation.
His performances have improved of late, though, with nine goals and seven assists in his last 14 matches in all competitions for Dortmund.
It was rumoured in February that Man Utd had ‘paused’ interest in Sancho over his form and ‘the persistent rise of Mason Greenwood’.
Now Eurosport claim that United are ‘holding back on their pursuit’ of Sancho as they have ‘an expectation that he will push for a transfer at the end of the season’.
The report adds that Sancho ‘has a desire to return to English football in time for next season’ and Man Utd are now ‘waiting to discover Dortmund’s current valuation of the player’.
The Red Devils are expecting an answer from the German club ‘soon’ and are hopeful that Dortmund’s asking price has ‘dropped significantly’.
Eurosport describe Man Utd as ‘desperately disappointed not to sign Sancho last summer’ and reckon he is now worth between £50-60m in the current transfer market.
Meanwhile, Ian Wright recently urged Man Utd to retain their interest in signing Sancho even if they go for his Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland.
“I’d still try and get Sancho as well to go with him,” Wright said. “I envisage that if you can have a Man United side that had Pogba, Fernandes, Haaland and Sancho… you know what I mean?
“Then you start to feel that somewhere along the line you’re going to get some creativity there.
“My problem with Man United when I watch them is that they don’t keep the ball well enough in that last third where the creativity is needed to open a West Ham up, move defenders around, a link man like the forward who can hold it, keep it there on the edge of the box, play it around to someone like Fernandes who can slip it into little spaces.
“Then all of a sudden you can counter attack or you can play through them. That’s what they need, any of those two.
“I don’t think Sancho is something that they should just give up on because he’s creative as well, he goes past people.”
