Liverpool vs Everton: TV channel, live stream, squad news & preview

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be eager to bounce back from the loss at Parc de Princes when they welcome the Toffees to Anfield for Sunday’s derby

Liverpool will host crosstown rivals Everton in the 232nd Merseyside derby on Sunday, as the Reds continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to brush off the disappointment of the 2-1 loss against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek as they welcome the Blues to Anfield, who are on a decent run of form having registered three wins in their last five fixtures.

Everton are winless in 17 previous meetings with Liverpool, and will be out for blood – and bragging rights – when they seek to put an end Liverpool’s unbeaten form.

Sunday’s fixture will be the 100th top-flight Merseyside derby played at Anfield and the 232nd overrall, and the Reds need to be careful to not let the loss at Parc de Princes on Wednesday impact their mindset heading into the derby.

Everton are winless in 18 Premier League trips to Anfield against Liverpool since a 1-0 win in 1999, though they are arguably in the best-placed position to finally register a win for the first time in recent years.

The Blues now sport the attacking likes of Richarlison, Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun, and will be eager to exploit a Liverpool side who have not quite yet reached their peak levels of form despite sitting just five points behind league leaders Manchester City (with a game in hand).

Both Premier League fixtures between the pair last season ended in stalemates, with Liverpool last registering a Premier League win against Everton in April of 2017 when they ran out 3-1 winners.

The Reds, however, managed to secure a 2-1 FA Cup victory against the Toffees earlier in January, where Virgil van Dijk netted his first goal since moving to the Anfield outfit.

Liverpool’s Champions League hopes are now hanging by a thread following the loss  to PSG, though they still have their fate in their own hands – a win by two goals against Napoli in the final fixture will send them to the last 16 – and victory against their crosstown rivals will give them the momentum to see out their European duties.

Silva’s side’s recent upturn in form sees them sit in sixth place and level on points with Manchester United.

Though Liverpool’s form this season have raised questions about the abilities of their front-three who have not quite yet hit the stellar heights of last year – with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino still to combine consistently in front of goal – they boast the best defensive record in the Premier League, with just five goals conceded.
