Liverpool, Arsenal target ‘transfer listed by Real Madrid’

Real Madrid have reportedly made Liverpool and Arsenal target Vinicius Junior available for transfer this summer.

The forward has endured a poor campaign under manager Zinedine Zidane.

He’s scored just three goals in 25 appearances for Real.

According to Spanish source AS, Vinicius Jr will be allowed to leave the Bernabeu in the summer.

The news hands both Liverpool and Arsenal a major boost in their pursuit of the 20-year-old.

They were thought to be monitoring his situation last month.

Real were keen to retain the player’s services then, but his situation has worsened in recent weeks.

The report states that club officials have become frustrated with the player following his performances against Alcoyano and Levante.

Vinicius Jr played 30 minutes of the 2-1 defeat to Levante. He failed to make any real impact coming off the bench.

The result left Real ten points off rivals Atletico in La Liga, having played an extra match.

He also played poorly in the surprise cup loss to Alcoyano, sending his time at Real to ‘rock bottom’.

The Spanish giants are now expected to listen to offers for Vinicius Jr. They will likely have to take a loss on the player they signed for €46 million in July 2018.

Liverpool and Arsenal could swoop in to sign him for a reduced price. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp might be able to get the best out of the Brazilian, allowing him to follow in the footsteps of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

The Emirates is another potential destination this summer.

Arsenal spent little during the January transfer window but managed to acquire Mat Ryan and Martin Odegaard. That means they should have available funds by the time the summer window opens.

The Gunners also managed to trim down their squad. Sokratis, Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi all left North London.

That leaves a potential opening for Vinicius Jr, who could revive his career in England.
