Christopher Kane showed his fourth collection at the Topshop space during London Fashion Week. Described in his own words as: “Original, intellectual and very beddable,” Kane’s show did not disappoint his front row of international buyers and press. The Scottish designer tamed down his look of last season’s body-con neon dresses, and sent more grown up looks such as beautiful chiffon dresses, drainpipe leather trousers, and oversized knitted dresses drown the runway.
Kane this season muted his colour palet to olives, beiges, and slate, mixed with petrol and red. A giant sequins part hidden beneath the fabric panels – and a tartan coat studded with built-up black rosettes, which drew a knowing smile from the audience. The silhouette was slim but never intimidating, according to Vogue, even the chunky knits that were worn as dresses, ripped-up black chiffon trailing from hem to floor, were utterly covetable.
