— In a follow-up on Umaga’s sudden release from WWE on Monday, there is still no firm reason on why he was let go, just plenty of speculation. However, a company source was quoted as saying it was “a situation where he just had to be let go.”
Umaga has been telling people close to him he quit the company, but many believe there is a lot more to it than that.
There has also been a lot of speculation that Umaga may have been released as a result of a violation of the company’s drug testing policy. For the record, he was only suspended once, not twice.
On August 30, 2007, Umaga, whose real name is Edward Fatu, was suspended for 30 days for receiving pharmaceuticals not in compliance with WWE’s Talent Wellness Program. He received somatropin, a growth hormone, between July and December 2006.
— In case you didn’t notice, Jerry Lawler did almost all of the announcing during the injury angle with Batista on Monday’s Raw. The word going around is that wasn’t an accident. Vince McMahon wanted Lawler to call the angle instead of Michael Cole because he trusted him to get it over better.
— This past weekend’s episode of A.M. Raw drew a 0.85 cable rating.
