Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says that winning Team of the Year in Manchester at the Sports Personality of the Year awards made it “even sweeter” due to their rivalry with Manchester United.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson managed a second place finish for the overall award, which completed a successful night for Liverpool, who won Team of the Year.
Klopp, who led his side to a 7-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, won Coach of the Year, having also collected FIFA’s best coach prize on Thursday and the German couldn’t resist a little jib at their great rivals when accepting one of the awards.

“My team deserve this, because they did an incredible job,” said Klopp.
“It’s a mix of talent, character, desire and the power of the club which is a big one. That all comes together and it was a great moment when we became champions.
“We want to organise a big party when it’s allowed again, it could take a little while again but until then maybe we can win something else, we will see.
“We can’t wait to see the fans again and winning this prize in Manchester is even sweeter.”
