Kevin Spacey And Steven Seagal Avoid Sex Assault Charges

LOS ANGELES, CA — Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal, and Anthony Anderson are the latest celebrities accused of sexual assault or rape, who will not face charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday. The allegations against the stars were either too old or couldn’t be substantiated, prosecutors concluded.

All three men have proclaimed their innocence.

A special unit created to handle the flood of sexual abuse allegations in the entertainment industry reviewed one allegation made against each actor. In the cases against Spacey and Seagal, the allegations dated back to the early 90s, exceeding the statute of limitations. The case against Anderson fell apart when the alleged victim declined to be interviewed. Prosecutors said there is a “lack of sufficient evidence” to proceed with a case against the “Black-ish” star.

Anderson had been accused of assault by a woman who catered an event organized by the actor last year, according to the celebrity news site The Blast. He strongly denied the allegation. According to prosecutors, investigators could not move forward to collect evidence without cooperation from the alleged victim.

The allegations against Spacey stem from an alleged 1992 assault in West Hollywood. Investigators released few details about the case except to say that the alleged victim was an adult and that the statute of limitations expired in 1999. Spacey remains under investigations for other alleged assaults, including allegations stemming from in England where he worked extensively in theater.

The case against Seagal stems from the alleged rape of Regina Simons, an 18-year-old aspiring actress in 1993. Simons claims the actor raped her in 1993 when she was 18.

Simons, who was an extra in the film “On Deadly Ground,” said on NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today,” Seagal invited her to what she believed was his house for a party and that she realized when she arrived that she was the only one there with him.

“Immediately I asked him where everyone else was for this wrap party. And he said that everyone had left and he said he wanted to show me something and took me into what seemed to be a bedroom, there was a bed in there, and then closed the door and tried to kiss me and took my clothes off. And before I knew it, he was on top of me, and I couldn’t move. I just completely froze and even felt like I left my body … I know I was crying. I know there were tears coming down my face,” she alleged. “There was no anything from him to even see if I was OK.”

“I know what consent is and that was definitely not consensual,” Simons alleged in the interview.

Simons is one of several woman to make sexual assault allegations against Seagal, who has vehemently denied them, calling them a “modern–day witch hunt.” The actor made headlines recently when he was appointed as a special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in charge of Russian and American Humanitarian ties.
