Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane says he has “never” dives as he “uses his body well”.
Kane came in for criticism after collapsing under the fairly non-existent challenge of Sokratis during the north London derby draw earlier this month.
The forward had attracted opprobrium for a similar situation involving Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles, with Kane failing to win a penalty on both occasions.
The reaction he drew in some quarters was actually to completely ignore it, which seems in line with Kane’s argument that he “never” dives.

“Never and, hopefully, I don’t have to,” he said when asked by ESPN whether he dives.
“I said after the Arsenal game it’s a 50/50 one, similar to the one we got given against us at Wembley the year before. It happens in football.
“I am someone who uses his body well, which as a striker you have to do at every level. On the half-way line it’s a free kick every day of the week. In the penalty box you don’t always get it.
“People’s opinions are their opinions. I wasn’t concentrating on that sort of stuff. For me, it’s about doing my best on the pitch and the most important thing is about winning games.”
