Honky Tonk Man-Haas Storyline, Superstars Discuss SVR 09, WWE Tops DVD Chart

— In the days leading up Cyber Sunday, Honky Tonk Man wasn’t originally scheduled to appear at the event, reports www.ProWrestling.NET. They didn’t call him until the Thursday before the pay-per-view. In an interview with Live Audio Wrestling, Honky Tonk Man said the original plan at Cyber Sunday was for Charlie Haas to come out dressed as him. “They were originally going to have Charlie Haas dress up and go out and do this,” Ferris said. “The rehab came along very well and Thursday they had called and said ‘can you still do the shake, rattle, and roll?’ and I said ‘well of course I can do that’ and that was case closed.” Ferris is still rehabbing an injury suffered at an autograph signing over the summer when an overzealous publicity person nearly severed his finger when they were horsing around with two guitars. Ferris wasn’t sure if he would be able to make the show as a result, and he didn’t think he would be voted in to the match against Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella. “This voting thing is extremely legitimate. It was a very close race between myself and Piper,” Ferris said. “I went there thinking I wasn’t going to have to do anything either. I’m just making a little cameo appearance, but I ended up being in the ring for about 40-45 seconds and it worked out very well.”

— THQ held a media event this past week promoting SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 at the Florida Championship Wrestling headquarters in Tampa, Florida. Randy Orton, Jack Swagger and WWE Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix discussed their experiences with the new video game and playing it. “This is my first time being in a video game. I did get a chance to play it. Actually, it was really cool, and the whole process was really neat for me to get scanned and to have THQ really work closely with us to make the likeness of our characters really, really great,” Phoenix said. “I’ll tell you I was really taken a back. It was just really, really cool to see how well they captured all the characters and to see my own for the first time was an amazing experience, one of the great perks of this job.” Orton added, “I think creating your own finishing move is huge. That and creating your own character feature I think is pretty popular, too. My brother plays a lot of video games, and a lot of my friends play a lot of video games, and they end up really getting into it. The fact they can have their own finishing moves is huge to them, the gamers. For me, for instance, I have the RKO, but [THQ] added this year the kick to the head. Boom, so I’ve got two finishing moves. So I think that’s huge.” {Mega THQ event to promote mega WWE game at mega FCW}
