Kai Havertz wants Fikayo Tomori’s shirt number at Chelsea, with reports claiming the young centre-back may move on loan to Everton this season.
Havertz became Chelsea’s seventh signing of the summer when he joined the club in a £70million deal at the end of last week, following German teammate Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech to Stamford Bridge in a major summer of transfer business for the Blues.
Simon Johnson of The Athletic claims Havertz has asked if he can have Tomori’s 29 shirt having worn the number throughout his time at Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
Tomori is reportedly happy to oblige, and that was before talks over a proposed season long loan to Everton have ramped up.
The Liverpool Echo claims Everton are ‘closing in’ on Tomori, but he is said to be a number of names on a defensive shortlist drawn up by Carlo Ancelotti.
Kurt Zouma enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Toffees from Chelsea and a move for Tomori could well be one that suits all parties, with the 22-year-old looking for game time and Chelsea keen for him to gain Premier League experience.
