Fabinho has 'no reason to leave' Liverpool as PSG links emerge

The Brazil international has struggled to make his mark at Anfield following a summer switch but insists he is not looking for a way out in January

Fabinho sees “no reason to leave” Liverpool just a few months after signing, with “patience” required as he settles in new surroundings.

The versatile Brazil international was considered to be a shrewd addition for the Reds when they moved early in the summer to land him in a £39 million agreement with Monaco.

He figured prominently throughout pre-season but was then eased into Premier League life by Jurgen Klopp as he was forced to wait until mid-October before making his top-flight bow.

There have been plenty of outings since then, but Fabinho has struggled to make the impact expected of him.

That has led to suggestions that the 25-year-old may seek to beat a hasty return to France in January, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly open to doing a deal.

Fabinho is, however, adamant that his future lies at Anfield, telling UOL Esporte: “He [Jurgen Klopp] did not give a lot of explanations, but in training, I talked so I would not be discouraged and concentrate on work, without lowering my head. [I knew] the opportunities would come.

“Now I just want to increase my number of games.

“In the last few matches I’ve played more and I believe that [I’m] playing a good role.

“Since football is very intense here, I have to be very well prepared when the opportunity arises.”

He added on the transfer talk: “I was told there was something in the press, but I never said I would like to leave Liverpool.

“I was aware that I needed to have patience and to wait for my moment.

“I’m happy at Liverpool, there’s no reason for me to leave.”

Fabinho has made 10 appearances for Liverpool so far, with four of those outings being Premier League starts.

The most recent of those came in a derby date with Everton on Sunday, as he helped to shut out the Toffees before Divock Origi snatched the most dramatic of winners.
