Should America look north to Canada for a solution to its gun problem?

In Canada many of the restrictions in place would have made it far harder for the killing sprees which have scarred the US to have occurred.

According to the American Journal of Medicine, the Canadian firearms death rate is 2.3 fatalities per 100,000 people.

In the United States the figure is 10.2.

Even though Canada is more permissive than many other western countries, which have introduced strict curbs following mass shootings, legislation is far stricter than its southern neighbour.
