Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he has been impressed by the strides Crystal Palace have made under Roy Hodgson as the two teams prepare to meet at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.
Hodgson took charge of Palace in September 2017, steering the club away from relegation and up to 11th in the Premier League standings before following up with another mid-table finish last season.
Back-to-back wins over Norwich and West Ham mean the Eagles currently sit sixth, just two points behind this weekend’s opponents, and Guardiola is aware of the trouble they could cause his side.
He said: “I think since Roy Hodgson took over the team with zero points and helped to avoid relegation, they have always made a really good season. They have incredibly talented players.”
Guardiola remains confident he can recall a number of players to his squad for the trip to the capital.
Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Benjamin Mendy have all been training this week following injury and fitness concerns while Sergio Aguero has also been given a clean bill of health after he was involved in a minor crash crash earlier this week.
“Some of them are better. Kevin is back, John trained the last days, Mendy as well”, Guardiola said, before adding that Aguero is also fine but “the car is not”.
