Bale to follow Ronaldo to Serie A? 'Nothing is impossible', says Real Madrid star's agent

The Wales international continues to generate transfer talk and it could be that he treads a similar path to a former colleague and heads to Italy

Gareth Bale’s agent insists the Welshman is “very happy at Real Madrid” but has stopped short of ruling out a future transfer to Serie A and admitted “nothing is impossible”.

The 29-year-old continues to generate exit talk in Spain and has seen moves to the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich mooted in recent windows.

He is, however, doing his best to aid La Liga and Champions League causes with Madrid for now, with inspiration required at the Santiago Bernabeu following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bale is trying to fill that void, but could make a move of his own at some stage and may end up joining an illustrious former team-mate in Italy.

Jonathan Barnett told Tuttosport when quizzed on the Wales international’s future: “Gareth is very happy at Real Madrid, but if we’re talking about the future then nothing is impossible in the transfer market.

“Ronaldo was an important loss for Real Madrid. Gareth loved playing with Cristiano, but he’s happy because he’s at a top club.

“It’s true that since CR7 arrived the foreign superstars are starting to consider Serie A and start looking at it in a different way compared to the last years.”

While hinting that Bale could seek a new challenge in the coming years, Barnett has moved to rule out a switch for another of his clients.

Wojciech Szczesny waited patiently behind Gianluigi Buffon for his chance at Juventus and, having taken starting duties, has no intention of walking away from the Serie A champions.

Barnett said of the former Arsenal goalkeeper: “He’s the Juventus No.1, he’ll 100 per cent remain in Bianconero.

“He is in the category of Alisson, Kepa [Arrizbalaga] and [Jan] Oblak, but he’s not for sale.”

Szczesny joined Juve in 2017 and has taken in 16 appearances across all competitions this season following Buffon’s summer move to Paris Saint-Germain.
