Arsenal look set to finalise their first January signing in the coming days, as Dutch defender Omar Rekik arrived in London recently.
The Hertha Berlin player agreed initial terms with Arsenal during the summer.
The transfer is believed to form part of Hertha’s loan deal for midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

According to Metro, the Gunners are close to finalising a deal for 18-year-old Rekik.
He is currently locked in contract talks with club chiefs ahead of a January move.
Rekik will become the first player to join Arsenal next month, but it’s thought that he might be loaned out for the remainder of the campaign.
Manager Mikel Arteta already has young defender William Saliba at his disposal, who is yet to play in the Premier League.
He is unlikely to put Rekik ahead of Saliba in the pecking order, which means the Dutchman could be loaned out for experience.
Arsenal fans will be hoping Rekik isn’t their only signing of the transfer window. They have been linked with a host of players recently, including Isco, Dominik Szoboszlai and Houssem Aouar.
They lost out on Szoboszlai as the Hungarian international decided to join RB Leipzig.
But Isco or Aouar could still move to North London, if the club is willing to spend big to improve their squad.
It looks like they might need to do that when you consider Arsenal’s current league position.
Arteta’s men are 15th in the Prem after their first 13 matches. They’ve struggled in recent weeks and were held to a draw by Southampton in their last match.
Arsenal might need some further investment in January to help them move up the Premier League table.
